RAINFOREST ADVENTURE AND EXPEDITION
45-minute drive to the town of Gamboa, where the Chagres river meets the Panama Canal. Voyage across Gatun Lake in the Panama Canal. Along the way you will have the opportunity to spot iguanas, crocodiles, peacock bass, among other wildlife. Gatun Lake was formed to give way to the Panama Canal in 1914. With a surface of 423 km2. The flow of all rivers within the Panama Canal watershed is contained in Gatun Lake to provide water for the operation of the lock system. More than 52 million gallons of fresh water are used for every ship that transits through the Panama Canal from one ocean to the other.

Our expedition boat will allow for close approximations to rainforest covered islands in Gatun Lake to search for White-faced capuchin, Mantled howler monkey, and the Central American spider monkey. You will enjoy a picnic lunch on a small island with extraordinary views of the Panama Canal and the natural surroundings.

WILD COFFEE TOUR, WILDLIFE EXPEDITION & EL POCO COFFEE ADVENTURE
Hike the best trails to see Panama’s birds and wildlife, then stop at a mountain coffee estate for a tasting of some of Panama’s award winning coffee. 5 hour tour. Cloud Forest safari 4 hour tour, Visit the valley’s famous garden’s, Drive by the National Park.

After we will go to the observatory Center, and watch the ships go through, and perhaps learn a little history on how the canal was built.

EMBERA VILLAGE
Early in the morning we will travel to El Corotu on the shores of Madden Lake. Here you will board a motorized dugout canoe and travel up the Chagres River to the Embera Indigenous village of Embera Drua. The boat journey will take you through the rain forest of the Chagres National Park, with excellent opportunities of spotting a good number of birds that inhabit the place. At Embera village you will be greeted with dancing and music. You will learn about the Embera customs and their relationship with nature. There will be handicrafts available for sale and you will have the chance of being painted with the traditional “jagua”. After a picnic lunch you will visit the nearby waterfall where you can take a dip in the crystal clear waters of the Chagres before heading back to Panama City.

DOLPHIN LODGE SAN BLAS ISLAND TOUR ( 3 days/2 nights)
Depart Panama City’s domestic airport for a 50-minute flight to San Blas Islands, home of the Kuna Indians. After settling in, you’ll visit the neighboring village of Achutupu to learn of Kuna traditions. In the afternoon you may go snorkeling in the nearby reefs, visit the mainland for a hike through cultivated area or just relax in a hammock. Dinner will be a feast of local seafood.

Slow down relax, this morning you may take an excursion to nearby island of Ailigandi, where there is an interesting Kuna museum. This community is quite large, and you can browse the narrow walkways see a tremendous variety of Molas on display. Lunch is back at Dolphin Island Lodge, and your afternoon is free to explore on your own.

PANAMA CANAL RAINFOREST ADVENTURE
There will be a 45-munite drive to Gamboa, where you will board an expedition boat on an adventure that will include a voyage across Gatun Lake in the Panama Canal. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to spot crocodiles, snail kite and keel billed toucan. Our expedition boat will allow for close approximations to rainforest covered islands in Gatun Lake to search for White-faced capuchin, Mantled howler monkey, among other wildlife.

Gatun Lake was formed to give way to the Panama Canal in 1914. With a surface of 423 km2, it was the largest man-made lake in the world at the time of its creation. More than 52 million gallons of fresh water are used for every ship that transits through the Panama Canal from one ocean to the other.

You will enjoy a picnic lunch on a small island with extraordinary views of the Panama Canal and the natural surroundings.

We will leave the hotel at 6:45 am, and transferred to Balboa Pier 18 on the Pacific side of the Canal, where you will board the boat taking you partially through this engineering marvel. Cruise through the Miraflores and Pedro Miguel Locks, which will elevate the boat to 85 feet above sea level before arriving at the Gaillard Cut, the narrowest part of the Canal. After stopping at Gamboa on Gatun Lake, we will return to Panama City. Lunch included. We will also visit the Panama Canal where the operation of the Canal is explained and large ships can be seen transiting the Canal.

Friday, Feb. 4th 2011

PANAMA CITY TOUR
Early morning we will visit the “Old Panama” which date from the late 1600’s. Casco Viejo is home to monuments to Ferdinand de Lesseps and other Frenchmen instrumental in the ill fated attempt of the French to construct a canal through Panama. After lunch we will fly to the Interior in Chiriqui, to continue our tour.

Reservation Policy: A reservation fee of $ 300.00 per person is required. The reservation fee is fully refundable if a cancellation is made within 72 hours of booking the tour. After 72 hours fee do apply.

Pricing: Prices are per person based on double occupancy.

Young travelers: PPA does not accept travelers less than six years of age. All rates will be the same.

Special arrangements: A $ 125.00 service charge plus any additional cost incurred from our suppliers is applied to deviations ( such as, dates and gateways) tour itineraries.

Flight routings: You will be responsible for the reservation with frequent flier miles, and any additional fees. Each airline has its own policy on baggage allowances; please check with each airline for specific restrictions prior to travel. Some airlines may impose additional charges if you choose to check any baggage allowances, you are responsible for any additional fees.

Important information regarding flight delays & cancellations: PPA cannot be held responsible for any flight delays or cancellations caused by reasons including, weather, mechanical or strike. In any event of a flight delay, you must work directly with the airline to be rebooked. Once your new flight is confirmed, you must then notify PPA with your new arrival time. If this is the case, transportation from airport to meet up with the group will be at your own expense. Flight delays or cancellations causing missed tour components, meals excursions, sightseeing tours, or portions of tour will not be refunded by PPA, nor will insurance with flights cancellation protection so as to allow coverage for such delays and costs associated with these delays.

Final travel documents: Final travel documents, including travel itineraries, hotel accommodations and airline tickets, are mailed approximately 14 days prior to departure.

Refund & cancellations: If you cancel your reservation, the cancellation fee schedule below will apply.
In the event you have to cancel your tour on the day of departure, you must notify PPA prior to the departure of your first flight in order to file an insurance claim. Any penalties for supplemental services/guarantees (included but not limited to flights, hotels, late additions) resulting from cancellations made at your request will be your responsibility and all service fee are non-refundable. Substitution of travelers in not permitted. If you don’t show up for your trip, if you cancel your trip after the departure date or if you leave before the scheduled completion of a trip, you won’t be eligible for any refund from PPA for any unused portion of your trip or reimbursement for any additional cost incurred by leaving your trip early.

Health and capabilities: PPA Requires that participants be in good physical and mental health.

Group Travel requirements: PPA reserves the right, up to final payment date, to reschedule or cancel any tour that has an insufficient number of travelers.

Passports and visas: You are responsible for obtaining any travel documents and verifying entry requirements necessary for the country. You are responsible for any expenses incurred as a result of delays or itinerary changes related to your lack of appropriate travel documents and are therefore ineligible for any refund from PPA.

Legal responsibilities: PPA Tours, its affiliates, and their employees, officers, directors, does not own or operate any entity witch is to or does provide goods or services for your trip, including, for example lodging facilities, airline, bus, taxi or other transportation companies, local ground or tour operators, visa processing services, providers or organizers of optional excursions, food service or entertainment providers, etc. All such persons and entities are independent contractors. As a result, PPA is not liable for any negligent or willful act or failure to act of any such person or entity, or of any third party. Without limitation, PPA is not responsible for any injury, loss or damage to person or property, or death, delay or inconvenience in connection with the provision of any goods or services occasioned by or resulting from, but not limited to, acts of war or civil unrest, criminal, terrorist or threatened terrorist activities of any kind, overbooking or downgrading of accommodations, structural or other defective conditions in lodging facilities ( or in any heating, plumbing, electrical or structural problem therein), mechanical or other failure of airplanes or other means of transportation or for any failure of any problems, food poisoning, epidemics or the threat thereof, disease, lack of access to or quality of medical care, difficulty in evacuation in case of a medical or other emergency, or for any other cause beyond the direct control of PPA. Participant assumes all such risk.

PPA reserves the right to change or cancel the tour, the tour itinerary or any aspect of a tour at any time. From time to time, PPA may photograph tour and tour-related activities. Participant consents to the use of his or her likeness in PPA publications, but it cannot be held responsible for typographical or printing errors.

PPA reserves the right to decline to accept or retain any traveler on the tour if that person’s presence is likely to be detrimental to the enjoyment of the tour by others or for failure or to abide by PPA’s regulations and /or the direction of the Tour Director. Travelers who have been removed from their tour waive the right to a refund of any part of the fee. PPA may send the traveler home at the traveler’s own expense. PPA tours are not for resale, you must enroll directly with PPA.
